Each patient compartment refers to a group of tissues for which uptake can be described by a differential equation if tissue volume, tissue flow, and tissue solubility are known.
The interactive interface provided by the Model Builder enables the user to define the compartment label, the mobility constraints that apply (e.g. allowed/not allowed to travel by air or by ground), whether the compartment refers to clinical cases, as well as the color and position of their representation in the diagram (see Figure 5).
