Compared to a meta-analysis from the US of HEMS pre-hospital care times for trauma [ 19], our results showed HEMS in NSW have longer times in all categories.
The MRSA rate of 5.8% is lower compared to a meta-analysis of S. aureus isolates from Central Africa (27.7%) and another study on clinical S. aureus isolates from this region (11.1%) or in a study on neonatal bloodstream infection on Tanzania (28%) [ 3, 12, 15].
Compared to a "conventional" meta-analysis from published studies, the analysis of individual patient level data increases statistical power by facilitating analytical practice, and enables standardized estimates of drug efficacy across different studies.
Irrespective of such drawbacks, our approach of conducting a meta-analysis with individual participant data from different cohort studies being harmonised and uniformly analysed can be presumed to be more valid compared to a traditional meta-analysis of published studies.
Our study showed a higher OR 2.62 (95% CI, 1.24 5.76; P = 0.006) compared to a recent meta-analysis [ 15] in Han Chinese population which reports high association between AGT M235T polymorphism and hypertension (OR = 1.54; 95% CI, 1.16 2.03; P = 0.002).
Next, the results were compared to a recent meta-analysis of four independent expression array data sets (Rhodes et al, 2002) in order to define candidate genes located within regions recurrently changed in copy number.

Another limitation of our qualitative systematic review was that it would under-identify predictors of RIIs compared to a quantitative one (ie, a meta-analysis) as the latter would have greater power to achieve statistical significance due to larger sample sizes from pooling of studies.
