They were recruited from three nationally leading pediatric diabetes clinics, and their conventional treatment, not optimized for the purposes of this study, reflected typical glucose control that served as an adequate comparator to access benefits of closed-loop basal insulin delivery.
In this population, the comparator for the benefit assessment was prasugrel according to the recommendation of G-BA.
Examples include: go/no go decisions, dose and schedule selections, optimal trial designs and analysis, comparator differentiation, risk-benefit analysis, discovery target choices, hypothesis testing in in silico models, comparing drug candidate efficacy/safety profiles, predicting human doses, optimal combinations of compounds, and understanding the right patient population.
In the context of multi-criteria decision-making, a cardinal scale ranking weighting coefficients can be used for the aggregation of patient benefit to assess overall benefit compared to the comparator drug.
A decision is made on the extent of the additional benefit (major, considerable, minor, no benefit or benefit less than comparator) and the level of evidence (proof, indication, hint) [3 5].
