A retrospective chart review of electronic medical records was performed from January 2012 to December 2013 using the Ninth Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9) diagnosis for "hypoglycemia" for patients evaluated in a single academic community based ED with an annual volume of 100,000 patients.
