A combined CIMT score, developed by the DCCT/EDIC study (3), was calculated as the sum of the standardized IMT measurements (z scores; SD units [SDs]) of both the common and internal carotid arteries (combined score = common z score + internal z score).
All indicators were rescaled to a common scale (a z-score) with an average of zero and a standard deviation of one.
For example, residues 335 467 of yPrp3CTF spatially align with cow AcyP (PDB ID 2ACY; Figure 3 figure supplement 2C) with a RMSD of 2.5 Å over 90 common Cα atoms (Z-score 10.1) and show a comparable similarity to the BLUF domain of the BlrB photoreceptor from Rhodobacter sphaeroides (PDB ID 2BYC; RMSD of 2.0 Å for 84 common Cα atoms; Z-score of 10.0; Figure 3 figure supplement 2D).

The IsoCleft Finder analysis identified similarities between the hydrophobic groove along the cleft entrance and dimerization interface of the query protein (PDB code 2h1t), and the lipid-binding site in Candida rugosa lipase (PDB code 1lpn; 31 atoms in common, Tanimoto Score of Similarity 0.200, Z-score 3.98, p-value 1.08E-02) suggestinvolvementment in glycolipid metabolism.
For each common gene, z-scores were then merged across all ER- cohorts, and similarly for all ER+ cohorts.
Two common ways to normalize time-series data are min max and z-score.
