Back, shoulders, and neck were the most common pain locations in the sample, and 93.8%% of the participants reported pain in more than two locations.
A survey of 410 adults in the Edmonton area found a prevalence rate of 44%, the most common pain locations being the back, head and neck.
To assess pain over the last 6 months, the interview contained four different items: a) 7 specific common pain locations (neck, back, head, orofacial area, abdomen, chest and joints); b) the number of locations; c) duration and; d) severity determined by the Chronic Pain Grade (CPG) [ 41].
The most common primary pain locations were lumbar or sacral pain (38.33 %) and leg pain (35.00 %), as is shown in Table 2.> The Cronbach's alpha and the corrected item-total correlations of all 17 item are shown in Table 3.
In addition, all the patients in the present study were not selected randomly, and 65.14 % of them came from cities, the most common primary pain locations were lumbar or sacral and leg pain, accounting for 73.33 %, and codeine, oxycodone, tramadol were more used prescription opioids.
We observed that changes in pain location were common over the two-year period (Table 4).
The most common reasons for ineligibility were not meeting pain location and severity criteria.
The most common pain sites were the lower back, shoulders and "other locations".
Pain ratings varied widely, however less variability was seen in pain location, with immediate paraspinal region being the most common.
Chronic pain, defined as pain lasting for more than 3 months, is common in children and adolescents and its prevalence varies according to pain location and associated primary disease [ 1– 4].
