KHOVANSHCHINA For its blazing revival of Mussorgsky's dark, expansive masterpiece in February, the Metropolitan Opera fielded an extraordinary, committed cast, led with lyrical intensity by Kirill Petrenko.
"It's a very tasking, almost stupid episode to film 100 episodes in a go without $1bn, but we can show that with a good story, with dedication, with a committed cast and crew, with a bit of luck, you can achieve great things," says Mr Emelonye, with a smile.
It doesn't all hang together, but with a committed cast of five 20-something actors and unobtrusive but tight direction by Steven Gridley, the show has a precocious spirit that deserves encouragement.

It was terrific fun, and interesting, to hear the full-throttled performance that Teatro Grattacielo presented here, with David Wroe conducting a large and committed cast, the Westfield Symphony Orchestra, the combined Cantori New York and Long Island University Chorus, the Chinese American Children's Chorus, and — essential to the performance — the Due Colori Ensemble of mandolins and guitars.
Yet the committed cast included gifted singers.
But mostly what the show has is fine music and a committed cast.
