In the context of community-based forest management, participants' understanding or perception of the purpose and the implication of the arrangement with respect to their interest and, thus, the attitudes they form influence the willingness and commitment for its implementation (Gellich et al. 2005; Husain and Bhattacharya 2004; Tesfaye et al. 2012).
