Two days later the first comic I ever met stole my piggy bank at a railroad station in Portland.
So I read every comic I could get my hands on, and my reading got better and better.
The only comic I hear use it to fit a routine is [US comic] Dave Chappelle.
The one that now, as a fairly seasoned comic, I look for.
When I make a comic I put it up, it's there right away and then immediately people are like, 'lol', and I'm like, 'oh good I didn't fail!'".
Also, when I started the comic, I wrote five thousand comics in one incredibly productive afternoon and have just been posting them one a day since then.
"The comedic sensibility is similar," he says, "and if you are a good comic I don't see why your material wouldn't translate".
"When I became a comic, I used to see Sol Hurok, the impresario who had been my father's patient, in the Russian Tea Room," Nichols recalled.
Almost 20 years after I last created a comic, I tried again, and this time it was not much different.
"Not necessarily as a stand-up comic; I was just thinking of earning a living being funny".
