The traditional task consists of a color word printed in colored ink that either matches the color word (e.g. "red" printed in red ink: a congruent condition), or mismatches the color word (e.g. "red" printed in blue: an incongruent condition).
For example, Stroop-like stimuli were presented (color words in colored ink).
Purchasing paper in multiple colors or designs or printing in colored ink vs. black can add a bit to your cost, so keep that in mind.
Still, your local paper may use petroleum-based colored ink, which is toxic, so you may want to avoid newspaper with color inks.
Disturbances of the view were simulated with blue colored ink.
