Whilst building up a core collaboration on this topic from a range of disciplines (within environmental and human geography, crop science, geospatial information, and computing science) at the University of Nottingham by meeting regularly and having small funding for a few summer internships in 2010, the common vision expressed in Fig. 1 started to emerge.
The goal of this special issue of the Chinese Journal of Cancer is to bring the relationship between air pollution and cancer into focus and encourage international collaboration on this topic.
In the meantime, UIC continues to look for new collaboration opportunities on this topic and to promote the existing best practices at a global level.
Previous studies have touched on this topic.

This is critical, as the challenges we are facing in addressing the effects of climate change are larger than any one nation and should not be faced alone, and the symposium encourages multinational collaboration on this very important topic.
The speed of development is unprecedented, and the research collaboration between academia and industrial engineers on this topic is truly intriguing.
Those who were most involved in substance abuse management had undertaken Continuous Professional Development CPDD) or network collaborations concerning this topic.
The second paper on this topic arose from the CoBaTrICE collaboration (a competency based training programme in intensive care medicine) [ 6].
Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, UBS, and other banking giants have all established their own blockchain laboratories, working in close collaboration with blockchain platforms, and published a series of studies on this topic.
Many previous publications on this topic are from the studies participating in this collaboration, and these publications are cited together with publications from studies not included in this collaboration.
