Situated across from the Capitol Theater (home of Ballet West, the longest running ballet company in the United States) and next door to Hotel Monaco, this cocktail spot serves an exhaustive list of martinis from traditional Manhattans to Dirty Girl Scouts (vodka, Irish cream, coffee liqueur and creme de menthe).
Try the "Pod Thai" (rum, Thai basil, lime, cardamom lemongrass syrup, and coconut cream) or "La Florida" (Stumptown coffee, cognac, and creme de cacao).
Vodka-based cocktails tend to pair well with lemon and lime flavors, tequila and rum pair well with limes, rum can pair well with mint, chocolate pairs with creme de cacao liqueur, and coffee beans complement coffee liqueur.
The coffee is great (cafe creme my personal favourite although I read about their notoriously rich chocolat l'africain) and the beautiful decor makes for a lovely experience.
Our last -- and excellent -- lunch was at Johann Reisner in Forchtenstein, Hauptstrasse 141, (43-2626) 63 139, where I took the $15.85 menu, and had Eierschwammerl soup, rabbit and a fantastic coffee-flavored pot de creme with sour cherries.
