To illustrate one result of the multivariate analysis, a multivariate PF was calculated for each individual patient by the following linear combination of the variables, weighted by their coefficients (event-free survival 240 months) (Aubele et al, 1995): This calculation lead to a continuous variable in a range of −1.63 to 3.24.

Coefficients between different events of the same target (i.e., between death and birth of protein families) were all negative, suggesting no significant correlation.
The interclass coefficient correlation indicates the degree of mutual coordination between the changes of two time-based events; so, for example, if the interclass coefficient correlation between event A and event B is 1 and the timing of event A is doubled (delayed), the timing of event B will be similarly doubled (delayed).
Fourth, the relationship between the initial variable and the outcome variable was reduced when the mediator was included: the magnitude of the prior negative event coefficient reduced from 0.836 to 0.447 when prior ruminative self-focus was included (see previous analysis of the association between prior negative events at time t – 1 and levels of negative affect at time t).
