A computer program which performs the quasi-static simulation of the bearing operation yields the necessary kinematics and dynamic parameters for the FEM simulation of the stress field occurring in coated rings during their operation.
Finally, the coated rings were evaluated in a single cylinder gasoline engine using SAE 5W-20 engine oil and in a heavy duty diesel engine using 4.1% sooted SAE 10W-30 dienginengine oil.
