CNP (1 pM–1 µM) facilitated HUVEC proliferation and inhibited RAoSMC growth concentration-dependently.
CNP (1 µM RAoSMC; 100 pM HUVEC) increased cGMP concentrations in RAoSMC and HUVEC approximately sevenfold and twofold respectively.
In WT mouse AoSMC, CNP (1 µM) produced a marked inhibition of growth; however, in AoSMC from NPR3 KO mice, the inhibitory effect of CNP was absent.

RAoSMC treated with CNP (1 µM) exhibited a time-dependent increase in the cell cycle inhibitors p21waf1/cip1 and p27kip1, but not the cell cycle promoter cyclin D1 (data not shown).
