In the final part of the manuscript, the authors aim to resolve a difference between the output of their model, which yields multiple initial clusters resolving into one, and the model from Klunder et al., 2013, which showed a single initial broad peak sharpening over time, and conclude that the differences are due to parameter value choices.
Clearly, the composition clusters resolved using 5 components become highly superimposed, and therefore irresolvable, when projected on two-component combinations.
When centromere cleavage maps were displayed at base-pair resolution, we observed that each of the two cleavage clusters resolved into cleavage pairs separated by ∼10 bp.
However, population clusters resolved at K = 4 corresponded better with our geographic and temporal knowledge of bobcat substructure (Fig. 2A) and importantly, Geneland resolved population assignments concordant with the genetic clusters at K = 4 determined in structure (Fig. 2D GG).
