This was done by comparing SIF data with simultaneously measured reflectance, transmittance and fluorescence data by means of the FluoWat leaf clip coupled with an ASD hyperspectral spectroradiometer.
The transfer isn't confirmed (in true "Glee" fashion the scene could be a fantasy sequence) but the clip, coupled with a supposed episode description that says a former rival joins the club, is fueling pre-season speculation among ardent fans.
The recent development of cross-linking and immunoprecipitation (CLIP) coupled to RNA-seq and related techniques has made it now possible to identify direct protein-RNA interactions in vivo at a very high base resolution [ 14, 15].
To obtain a more comprehensive view of protein-RNA interactions, recently, CLIP coupled with high throughput sequencing technology (CLIP-Seq or HITS-CLIP) [ 11– 15] and several alternative approaches, such as photoactivatable ribonucleoside-enhanced CLIP (PAR-CLIP) [ 16– 20] and individual nucleotide resolution CLIP (iCLIP) [ 21– 26], has been developed.

By coupling CLIP with sub-cellular fractionation we were able to identify mRNAs associated with SF2/ASF in the nucleus, cytoplasm and in the actively translating pool of ribosomes (Fig. 2 and Table S1).
