Whether hyaluronic acid of higher molecular weight influences the CD44 receptor in the clearing phase of inflammation is not clear [ 5].
In this perspective, it is interesting to note that even if all efforts to gently treat the lungs were adopted and physiological endpoints were successfully pursued during donor treatment and after transplantation, there was a clear activation of inflammation in the lung [48, 49].
