RNA isolated from CD14+ monocytes was purified further using the RNeasy MinElute Cleanup Kit following the manufacturers' instructions (Qiagen).
Resulting samples were treated with DNase I (Invitrogen) and purified with RNeasy Mini Cleanup (Qiagen) per the manufacturers' instructions.
After rRNA depletion, samples were purified using a Qiagen RNeasy MinElute Cleanup Kit according to the instructions outlined by the Epicentre Ribo-Zero™ Magnetic Kit.
The reaction was cleaned up with the MinElute Reaction Cleanup Kit (Qiagen) per manufacturer instructions except that the elution volume was increased to 20 μL.
