We hope this primer helps to guide educational researchers into a growing field that can help investigate classroom-scale hypotheses, and ultimately inform for better instruction.
Several of the most widely used learning environment instruments (e.g., What is Happening in this Class?, My Class Inventory, Classroom Environment Scale) [10 13], for example, include scales such as student cohesiveness, teacher support, satisfaction, and involvement that relate to many of the elements of the flourishing theory.
The data were obtained through an adapted questionnaire based on Horwitz's "Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale" (FLCAS, 1986) and Burgoon's "Unwillingness to communicate scale" (UCS, 1976) to measure the learners' pre and post anxiety levels.
