How about a Mental Hygiene Classroom Films Festival?

Naughtier still are spoofs of vintage classroom films, like "Mnemonics — Your Dear, Dear Friend" (they're not dear, they're dirty), and live-action segments with an amiably befuddled host named Doug Dale and the Anipals, foulmouthed (and in some cases fowl-mouthed) animal puppets.
Because, as Ken Smith, the curator of the series, says in his book "Mental Hygiene: Classroom Films 1945-1970" (Books Books, 1999), these "attitude-building" motion pictures were part of a vast social engineering program designed to present children with an alternate version of reality.
Influenced by avant-garde filmmakers like Bruce Connor and Stan Brakhage, Ms. Hammer creates nonlinear montage films in which found film clips (old newsreels, classroom films, pornography) and newly shot material (of a documentary or polemical bent) are blended into a joyously disruptive, discontinuous whole.
Without the depth technology, "Space Station 3-D," which opens today at Imax theaters nationwide, would be little more than an old-fashioned educational film, made with the same blind faith in the inherent goodness of technology that characterized the sponsored classroom films of the 1950's.
