Since 1971, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has had the task of managing wild horses, who are now classed, for administrative purposes, into 179 Herd Management Areas in 10 western states.
Faculty have completed their syllabi, refined their lectures, have met with advisees, and have struggled to make sense of a barrage of administrative memos: class lists, announcements of grant deadlines, university requirements for syllabi and news items about upcoming university events.
The core group of wealthy officeholders numbered at most a few hundred, and the administrative class of minor officials and scribes, most of whom could not afford to leave memorials or inscriptions, perhaps 5,000.
Another class of issues relates to administrative execution, such as late payment to graduate students and sudden changes to health insurance or other policies that affect graduate students in a negative way.
Yet to hear him speak at length with French journalists, or at Versailles, or in an exceptionally in-depth interview conducted last week with Andrew Marr, of the BBC is to recognize at once the specific voice and tone of the best of the French haute fonctionaire class, the administrative and managerial actors of the French Republic.
The savings associated with the reduced pay during the short sessions is what is allowing the college to offer more classes, said Ron Nakasone, executive vice president of administrative services.
In this climate of administrative corporate culture college class sizes have expanded significantly.
"Smaller creditors will be put together into an administrative convenience class of creditors and they will likely be paid in full," he said.
Where statutes are concerned, the trend is toward enlargement of the class of people who may protest administrative action.
