No significant differences were found between groups in gender, race, tumor or nodal stage, distance from the AV, circumferential extent, pretreatment CEA level, pathologic differentiation, concurrent chemotherapy, or radiotherapy dose (Tables 2 and 3).
The following parameters were extracted from the images: radial and circumferential strain at the level of the cardiac apex, radial and circumferential strain at the level of the cardiac base (mitral valve level), longitudinal strain and the rotation of the heart at both the apex and base to calculate cardiac torsion.
At a difference, however, with longitudinal strain, ventricular circumferential strain at basal level increased with increasing degrees of conduit, while it decreased at mid level (interaction p = 0.021) so that, for large conduit contribution to LV filling volume, circumferential strain averaged −0.11 ± 0.05 at basal as compared with −0.08 ± 0.04 at mid ventricular level (p < 0.001).
At later time points (5 6 h) of calcium-repletion, radial actomyosin cables were replaced by apical circumferential bundles at the level of AJC (Figure 8B, arrowheads).
