What the progeric children suggest is that, whatever processes make our skin sag — or, for that matter, make our joints go bad or our arteries harden — they run independently of the chronological clocks we use to count the passing years.
Chronos is the most familiar concept of time and refers to chronological time (eg, clock time, date and year) and notions such as 'early' or 'late' with their inherent moral implications.
