This month, immigration authorities eased background-check requirements for green cards, saying that if applicants had been waiting more than six months, they could be approved without an F.B.I. check, and approvals could be revoked later "in the unlikely event" that troubling information was found.
Upon final approval, it was spell checked, fact checked and printed for posterity.

Patty Curry, an agent in the Stone Ridge office of Westwood Metes & Bounds, said that credit checks and mortgage approval standards are the same as they would be in the city, "but the process can be a lot easier up here because all the players know each other".
