I thought this would be good for meetings: you could discreetly check your message without looking as if you were not paying attention.
You could also be seeing all those paper clips in your in-box if you are using antivirus software that thoroughly checks your messages and attachments.
When you're checking your messages, don't clip your nails, browse the Web, pay your taxes, tell your mother you love her and keep running back and forth to the kitchen to see if you've received even more e-mail on your new juicer.
I'm sure this is an example and there will be more extensions, but it's an elegant way of checking your messages, writing a few messages and going back to your browsing.
For example, if she's picky about grammar and spelling, you probably shouldn't send her texts like, "wanna hang out??? c u l8r!!" Instead, take the time to spell things out and double-check your messages for errors.
