Preoperative evaluation including measurement of best corrected visual acuity via Snellen chart, measurement of IOP via Goldmann applanation tonometry, gonioscopy, slit lamp biomicroscopy, stereoscopic optic disc evaluation with a 90 diopter lens, and dilated fundus examination with binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy was performed.
Refraction was performed using a Snellen chart and measurements were recorded by trained optometrists.
There were charts made, measurements marked off, drawings sketched, notes taken.

Using the statistical control method XmR control chart, this measurement analysis could identify a process performance baseline PPB-01, composed by upper and lower limits 0,1 and 0.25, respectively.
It all seemed so "professional". But they would have learned far more by staying with the cacti a bit longer, charting their measurements on graph paper, doing the statistical calculations by hand and, perhaps most importantly, sleeping under the stars instead of going home to create PowerPoint presentations.
While comparing the charts of measurements (visual and goniometric) of the two parts of our study, we noticed that for a given child, respective values of PROMs are different and this difference is sometimes up to 20 degrees for both measurements (visual and goniometric).
An example of the Shewhart control chart with individual measurements of DHA (C22 6n3) and EPA (20 5n3) in human plasma (QC1) is shown in Figure 2.
An estimated fetal weight which is small-for-gestational age on a customised chart, or repeated measurements which show slow growth, are indications for obstetric review and further investigations, 19 20 to be managed according to individual circumstances and evidence-based guidelines.
