The change of the atmospheric mass as a function of the atmospheric pressure on Mars is plotted on Fig. 5. Figure 5 shows that the net change of the atmospheric mass by the impacts is normalized with the total impactor mass, (26).
For a description of the properties of wave perturbations with vertical scales of the order of the changes of the background atmospheric parameters, or greater, it is assumed that the use of models for wave-characteristics calculations is adequate.
These in turn lead to large reductions in the amount of solar irradiance reaching Earth's surface, a corresponding increase in solar heating of the atmosphere, changes in the atmospheric temperature structure, suppression of rainfall, and less efficient removal of pollutants.

The most remarkable feature is that the direction of the initial vapor velocity could greatly change the mass of the atmospheric loss.
Matching outputs of this system to the action of a single variable, out of billions, is really hard (some would argue impossible), but that is what climate scientists are trying to do when they assign blame for a particular tornado or heat wave to a change by 0.01% of the atmospheric concentration of a particular gas.
