Main outcome measures Association between annual changes in provision of mental illness beds in the NHS and involuntary admission rates, using cross correlation.
Given current changes in provision of care for follow-up of cancer survivors, it is timely to address how this transition can best be supported.
However, there will also be activities in which steps will be taken to implement positive changes in provision of advice for fisheries management, including the development of effective MCS systems.
Our findings support the hypothesis that changes in provision of mental illness beds in the NHS are associated with subsequent changes in the rate of involuntary admission over the short to medium term.
The annual changes in provision of mental illness beds and involuntary admission rates in England during the study period mirrored each other (fig 2), with two periods of accelerated change (1989 to 1994 and 2003 to 2007).
Cross correlation of annual changes in provision of beds and involuntary admissions was strongest when a time lag of one year was introduced, with the annual change in the provision of mental illness beds significantly negatively correlated with the annual change in the rate of involuntary admissions in the subsequent year (r=−0.60, 95% confidence interval −1.06 to −0.15; fig 3).
In addition, this study represents a snap-shot in time of access to primary care amongst homeless populations, and the situation could worsen (or improve) with sudden changes in provision of housing or primary care services.
Our research provides circumstantial support for programmes encouraging exposure to natural environments in local areas, but longitudinal studies involving the study of patterns of migration and the impact of changes in provision of natural environments will be avenues for creating a more rigorous evidence base.
Some of the changes in provision of GP services aimed at improving patient access and experience include the introduction of patient feedback and quality assessment (surveying patients about their local GP practice); the extension of opening hours to accommodate the varying lifestyles of patient populations and thus engaging with the 'seldom seen'.
I certainly trust that the government is listening closely to the Sanitation and Water For All Partnership, which is doing such excellent work in encouraging the development of high-level political will to see a step change in provision of water and sanitation.
