You can't change your skill set overnight, but unless you can offer an appealing package of features--a combination that's unique to you--nobody's likely to buy.
My best advice is to not change your question to fit your current skill set but rather change your skill set to meet the demands of a good question.
To change the thickness of a cut, change your skill saw blades.
If you do try hard to change your skill set and attitude but feel that what is required to get promoted in your current role is not what interests you or what you can do, then it may be time to try and find a job which suits you better, or even to be contented within the role you have now.
