Given that they're starting the shows at 8.30pm, there's also the very real chance of temperatures falling beneath what even the thickest of blankets, most potent of tipples and sturdiest of British dispositions can cope with.
The statement says that failure by the world to act on climate change would bring is a one in 10 chance of temperatures rising by more than 6C by 2100, a level of risk that would be comparable with accepting 10,000 plane crashes daily worldwide.
There is, however, only so much carbon we can emit before we dramatically increase our chances of pushing temperatures above 2C, the limit agreed by governments and climate scientists.
The overall targets of 50% reductions in emissions by 2050 (relative to 1990) agreed at the G8 summit in Heiligendamm last June are essential if we are to have a reasonable chance of keeping temperature increases below 2C or 3C.
However, according to the report, known fossil fuel reserves declared by mining and energy firms top 2,795 GtCO2, meaning just 20percentnt of known reserves can be used if the world is to stand a good chance of avoiding temperature increases of two degrees.
Pennsylvania State University professor Michael Mann, who directs the Penn State Earth System Science Center, said policymakers have assumed if they kept atmospheric carbon concentrations at 450 parts per million they'd have a 50 percent chance of limiting temperature rise to 2 degrees Celsius.
Peter Stott of the Met Office Hadley Centre said: "This new research adds another piece of evidence that human-induced climate change is increasing the chances of record-breaking temperatures around the world including in the UK".
However, the maximum emissions target that has a reasonable chance of curtailing temperatures at 2C has been calculated as having a median value of about 36bn tonnes.
Assuming mid-range estimates for climate sensitivity, 450 CO2e ppm would give us a roughly 50% chance of limiting temperatures to 2C according to the last IPCC report.
But so far, countries have not committed to the emissions reductions required to give a good chance of preventing temperatures from exceeding that limit.
