This chapter presents design methods and examples for CFS framed shear walls sheathed with steel and CFS load-bearing clip angle connectors subjected to shear and compression.
The steel sections are welded to the top of the CFS load-bearing wall and function either as load distribution members (LDM) over wall studs or as headers spanning wall openings.
The transgranular crack path under CC possessed an intergranular tendency under CF loading which is obviously associated with the lower cyclic life.
The damage studies revealed a single surface initiated transgranular crack under CC and multiple surface initiated transgranular cracks under CF loading.
In comparison to similar CC conditions, CF loading resulted in an expeditious and prominent microstructural evolution, which assists in accumulating additional inelastic strain.
