Importance of nodes was determined by first calculating critical topological centrality measures [ 42], including degree (k), betweenness centrality (BC), closeness centrality (CC), and eigenvector centrality (EC), for all nodes and then removing a certain fraction of the nodes.
The degree centralities for all of the nodes in this experiment are listed in Table2 in decreasing order.
In this study, we calculated only the weighted in- and out-degree centralities for all nodes in the different livelihood landscapes, whereas we used both binary and weighted links for the density and centralization calculations (see below).
For each PPI network, we determined these three centralities for all individual nodes, then picked out the house-keeping nodes and calculated their means.
