We implemented a SUVpeak algorithm using a fixed-size 1-cm3 VOI, automatically positioned so as to maximize the enclosed average (maximum average), typically including but not necessarily centered on the maximum pixel value.
To minimize noise, we took a "window" with a width of 5 consecutive points, centered on the maximum value of all parameters of interest, and averaged these 5 points (i.e. the maximum and 2 points before and 2 points after the maximum).
Amplitude was measured by averaging a 0.3 ms time interval centered on the maximum amplitude value (peak).
Admixture peaks were defined by regions where posterior LOD scores exceed 0. Bayesian 95% credible intervals were then computed by plotting the posterior LOD scores across the chromosome of interest and defining the region centered on the maximum LOD score that included 95% of the peak area.
The peak was defined as a 250 bp region centered on the maximum 10 bp window.
Next, a 9-mm diameter sphere mask was centered on each maximum.
For each "perceived" component the precise peak apex is calculated from the three point parabola fit centered on the maximum.

Therefore, we defined 2 areas in the middle occipital cortex: medial and lateral (mMO: −22, −98, 18; and lMO: −32, –92, 18), the first centered on the maxima for the contrast [ML MF] and the other centered on the maxima for the contrast [ML NC].
