But Israel has rejected such a "reciprocal" ceasefire, as, in effect, has America.
"We would like it to be the cleanest possible ceasefire as well.
"We are committed to a ceasefire as long as the occupation is," says Abu Saad.
"We shouldn't agree to a prolonged ceasefire as long as there are big threats facing Israel," he said.
Turkey had earlier voiced cautious support for the ceasefire, as had two other main protagonists, Iran and Hezbollah.
He needs the ceasefire as much as anybody in an attempt to strengthen his position within the Palestinian political sphere.
"It is clear that we need urgent, concerted international action to secure a ceasefire, as was the case in 2012.
He admitted that voters were angry with the IRA for breaking its ceasefire, as well as with John Major for stalling on talks.
"We will declare a ceasefire as soon as Turkey says it is ready to enter into dialogue," says Rostam Judi, a PKK leader.
Israel's public security minister Yitzhak Aharonovich signalled there will be no agreement to a lasting ceasefire as quickly as Mr Kerry would like.
Kerry said he, Johnson and Cheikh Ahmed were calling for the implementation of a ceasefire "as rapidly as possible, meaning Monday, Tuesday".
