As an estimate for the association between E and O in the source population, it may seem tempting to ignore the CC sampling scheme and simply calculate RR on the combined data of the 4800 individuals in CoCa and CoCo (Table 1, row H).

Six CC samples were prepared using cores representing various core categories as shown in Table 4.
The water samples were immediately acidified by adding HNO3 (10 cc acid to 1,000 cc sample) and stored under cool conditions.
A CC sample with an average permeability of 21.55 md and porosity of 23.72 % was used in this run.
After the tests were over, the CC sample (~0.3 g) and composite samples (~0.3 g) were dried at 105 °C to a constant weight and further analyzed.

The 7 CC samples clustering within the A-L group had either no mutations or were associated with functionally silent mutations in p53 gene.
These results support the hypothesis that the functional status of p53 is a major distinguishing characteristic between the neo-adjuvant (CC) samples clustering in the C-L and A-L groups.
Our results indicate that the neo-adjuvant patient samples (CC) that cluster with the untreated cancer samples (i.e., the C-L group), are preferentially associated with LOF mutations in the p53 gene while few such mutations are associated with the CC samples clustering with the non-malignant adenomas (the A-L group).
The expression profiles, identities, fold changes, and the number of models in which these probe sets were used, are presented in Figure 3. Prediction of CC samples into C-L and A-L clusters was also achieved with 100% accuracy by support vector machine (SVM) analysis using GenePattern software.
