Tags allow you to categorise articles so that they're easier to find for visitors.
The reviewers, together and separately, categorised the articles under one of these headings with a view to refining the headings further into the process.
Raters independently categorised the articles as high, acceptable or poor quality, based on an evaluation of study design, participants (N, and type), demographics, recruitment method (random or other), exclusionary criteria, method of assessing perceptions (interview, questionnaire) and question quality (clarity, appropriate response options) (see online supplementary appendix 2).
After independent review of the articles, the coders will meet to categorise each article using the criteria listed above; again, records classified as 1 or 2 will be considered as included studies.
Articles categorised as editorials, comments, reviews, case studies and/or drug efficacy tested in vitro or through clinical trial were excluded from systematic review.
Despite the fact that the intervention by Mor et al [ 22] was one of the only two included articles categorised "CM", the tested educational short-term CM intervention included very few multidisciplinary components which normally makes it possible to distinguish CM from other nursing care.
Not all of these studies made explicit the fact that they were investigating barriers in primary care, and so it was a strength of the method that abstracts were read through and articles categorised according to the subject they covered, in order to limit the omission of relevant data.
Of these, 1141 articles were fully categorised: 352 scientific, 224 Dutch newspaper articles and 565 British newspaper articles (figure 1).
