The participants completed a detailed questionnaire on medical history, use of medication, current smoking, childhood socio-economic status (for which we used parents' education, categorized into four levels according to the parent with the higher education) and leisure-time physical activity [11] assessed with questions on exercise intensity (four categories), duration and frequency) [20].
Information on recreational physical activity (i.e., walking, skiing, swimming or other sports) included the frequency (five categories), duration (four categories) and intensity (three categories) of the activity.
Potential confounders such as gender, age (10 years categories), duration of education (<10, 10-12 and >12 years), smoking, use of pain medication and alcohol, anxiety and depression measured by Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), body mass index and physical activity were adjusted for and included in the final analysis.
Those factors included job category, duration of working, practice of wearing mask, and professional or household contact with TB patients.
The pathogens are presented by submission category, duration of hospitalization, wound location and the three categories of surgical procedures in Table 2.
There were no associations between distribution of the isolated pathogens and submission category, duration of hospitalization or classification of the surgical procedure.
Hazard ratios (HRs) and their 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using Cox proportional hazard models adjusted for sex, age, BMI, smoking status, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, history of MI, history of IS/TIA, history of ischemic heart disease (excluding MI), eGFR category, duration of diabetes, HbA1c category, and polypharmacy (in the month before the start date).
Characteristics of the 919 subjects who were recruited into the ET2DS were similar to those of nonresponders in terms of age, multiple deprivation category, duration of diabetes, A1C levels, the proportion using insulin, total cholesterol, and systolic blood pressure (data not shown).
