We have estimated PPVs using two approaches, one based on all cases verified with excision histology and also cases shown to have remained stable on review (this minimises verification bias in estimating measures of accuracy) (Houssami and Irwig, 1998).
In A375 xenografts, we observed an overlapping but distinct effect of DMXAA on cytokine protein production by melanoma cells and the stromal cells, which was also seen at the level of gene expression in the microarrays (Tables 1 and 2) and in three cases verified with RT PCR (Supplementary Figure 3).
