The grass carp model encompassed its known native range in eastern Asia.
For this purpose, we focused on the carp model, which allows easier sampling and ex vivo functional assays.
The common carp model predicted native presence across most of Eurasia; all 20 validation data points were predicted correctly by all of the best-subsets models (%O = 0, AUC = 0.80).
The non-native grass carp model, although it performed statistically significantly better than random expectations, nonetheless had a 19.8% omission rate, owing to several points falling within small areas predicted by few or none of the best-subsets models.

Our results showed that 10.1% (medaka sequences: 28 hits) to 59.2% (zebrafish: 164 hits) of the blasted sequences were significantly conserved between grass carp and model fish species (e < 10-7; Table 3).
