Happiness and GDP per capita trends in Egypt during the Arab Uprisings and Ukraine during the Euromaidan Revolution show he was right.
The report measures actual emission levels per capita, the trend in emissions projections, the deployment of renewable energy, and the energy intensity of the economy, and assesses climate policies for each of the 58 countries.
Below we attempt to summarize the results by characterizing their contribution to the three broad components of the per capita consumption trend between 1986/87 and 2010/11 (Fig. 1).
These findings suggest that recent UK per capita consumption trends are rooted in four phenomena.
By 1939, per-capita consumption relative to trend had not recovered at all, and per-capita hours worked had recovered by only 20%.
The expenditure per capita showed a diverging trend.
For the minimum target the independent variables were GDP per capita and a time trend.
For example, following a three-year trend, per capita out-patient utilization figures increased from 0.81 (2009) to 0.98 (2010) to 1.07 (2011) [ 14].
Although the data for the 4-year period 1999 2003 now appear to have been underestimated, they do not alter the underlying trend – per capita sugar consumption is still lower than it was in 1980, and during that time frame obesity rates trebled.
The data are summarized in Fig. 1 which records over time and in per capita terms the development trends of GDP, greenhouse gas emissions, material flows and land use.
