A laboratory model test was employed to study the bearing capacity, stress distribution, and failure mode of the composite foundation.
The flexural capacity, stress increase (Δfps) of the unbonded strands at the ultimate state, and displacement ductility ratio measured in the present beams were compared with those of the internally post-tensioned LWAC one-way members.
Using the recorded data during the tests, the following parameters are presented and discussed: maximum load capacity, stress and strain distribution in structural components (reinforcements, structural steel and on concrete surface), interstory drifts, cracking patterns, deformation and degradation capacity.
The performance of composite walls was judged based on the development of acceleration and top displacement during impact as well as post-impact shear-displacement response, strength/stiffness, energy absorbing capacity, stress development and failure modes.
In particular, performance is examined with respect to the main requirements that need to be met by these materials (resistance to plastic and punching deformations, bearing capacity, stress dissipation, cracking resistance, and waterproof properties) for their use in railway tracks.
