What is right about it, in my view, is that to be an autonomous person is to be capable of having privileged access (in the two senses defined above) to information about your psychological profile — your hopes, dreams, beliefs and fears.
So I would propose that for life to make more sense, we have to rely on other senses beyond our sense organs and come to understand that we are capable of having a much fuller appreciation of the world if we allow ourselves to give up sense-organ addiction.
Take your pick — healthcare, gun control, same-sex marriage, political donations — the Canadians have proved themselves capable of having grown-up discussions and finding reasonable, common-sense solutions.
