The solutions that exist now, such as a large-scale energy efficiency programme and investment in wind, wave and solar power, can do the job if we deploy them at the scale and urgency that is needed".
Rather than using a resource that's in short supply, is there anything we can deploy that we've actually got a surfeit of?
"We can deploy in New York and we can deploy in Saudi Arabia," says Green. "The cooling system would have to be tweaked a little bit, or maybe we would change the angle of the roof, but those are small potatoes relative to the global problem of figuring out better infrastructure for food production".
It's important to remember that there is no one thing we can do, nor any one technology we can deploy, that will guarantee all humans will use their powers wisely.
"The project will be getting data back, so within the EV Project we are indifferent to what standard is being used and much more attuned to how fast-charging affects how people use their vehicles, where are the best places to put fast charging, how can we most effectively deploy a fast-charge infrastructure," he said.
