Last year's model was called the iPad 2, but this third-generation model is just called the iPad.
(Remember when people called the iPad a "giant iPod Touch"?).
Really, the new iPad should have been called the iPad 2S.
It's unclear whether the product will be called the iPad 3.
Apple boss Tim Cook called the iPad Pro the "biggest news in iPad since the iPad" as he unveiled the Pro, which will have a 12.9 inch screen.
