There's not been much colonially set cinema from the west in the past decade – because of what you might call point-of-view difficulties.
I recommend that companies move beyond narcissistic marketing to what I call "point-of-view (POV) marketing".
To date, almost every one of the channel's successes has been the equivalent of a stand-up act: what Ms. Ganeless calls "singular point-of-view comedy".
As recently as 19 years ago, Salt Lake's guardians of the Saintly flame excommunicated several prominent writers and historians for what the old-line Soviets would have called "deviationist" points of view.
He was uninterested in historical debates, and hated academic fashions: "Somewhere along the assembly-line of their education, students have had inserted in them a bolt called 'points of view,' secured with a nut called 'trends,' and they imagine that the historian's problem is simply to compare points of view and describe trends.
"Frontline" agreed to broadcast the film, but Raney Aronson-Rath, the series' deputy executive producer, said "absolutely not," when asked if she would have used the original version, which she called a "point of view film".
"Mr. Azzolina is a nice man and he has done a lot of good for people," said Joseph E. McGrath, a former deputy mayor and host of a public access cable television program called "Another Point of View".
But the series is not called P.O.V. point of view for nothing: the filmmakers set out to show life as the workers see it, and they succeed, with often appalling clarity.
More importantly, though, stationary-observer VR — call it "DomeVR," since your point-of-view is essentially frozen in place within a dome — may be a richer, more immersive experience than a 2D screen, but when it comes to traditional narratives, it is vastly inferior to, say, movies.
You could call this point of view bugnosticism.
