The projected surface area of the anode was 12.57 cm2 and was used to calculate power density.
The GIFT toolbox "spectral group compare" function was used to calculate power density frequency spectra for each subject at six equally spaced frequency bins between 0 and 0.24 Hz at 0.04 Hz intervals (2-sample t-test, p < 0.0083 ≅ 0.05/ 6; Bonferroni-correction for 6 frequency bins).
The absolute values of the autocorrelation function estimates at these points are plotted in Fig. 3 e), with calculated power spectral density widths (Δfi, i = 1,2,3,4) in the legend.
Furthermore, the efficiency droop levels are ~ 24 and ~ 4% for LEDs A and B at the current density level of 110 A/cm2, respectively [droop = (EQEmax − EQE J )/EQEmax, in which EQEmax and EQE J denote the maximum EQE and the EQE at the current density of J]. The maximal registered open-circuit-voltage of the complete E-BFC exceeded 640 mV, calculated maximal power density was 4.2 μW cm−2 at the cell voltage of 530 mV in the presence of 200 mmol L−1 or higher glucose and 0.1 0.5 mmol L−1 of hydrogen peroxide concentration in anode and cathode compartment, respectively.
