When we created the CMTC signature to predict the outcome of breast cancers by using gene expression profiling of the training set, we excluded 501 genes that overlapped with 14 published prognostic gene signatures and two gene sets for molecular subtypes in the original study to eliminate any potential confounding effects with these prognostic signatures.
