For all 3D reconstructions, the segmentation software AMIRA 4.1.1 & 5.3.3 (FEI Visualization Sciences Group, Burlington, MA) was used.
The segmentation algorithm was executed on a workstation (Intel Quad Core Q9400 2.66 GHz, 2 GB RAM) with the segmentation software Amira 5.4.1 (FEI Visualization Sciences Group, Oregon, USA) and consisted of the following processing steps: image data preprocessing, segmentation, and surface postprocessing.
