The fact that memory capacity was not significantly influenced by variations in the duration of the sample array indicates that performance was not limited by processes other than working memory storage, such as for perceiving the stimuli and encoding the stimuli into memory.
The geographical gradients and temporal intervals captured by this sample array allow the sensitivity of remote lakes to be tested explicitly.

Data were further analysed by MAANOVA [ 84], modelling sample, array and dye effects in a fixed effect analysis.
